What the heck is a Potcake?

Congratulations to Seth from the USA for winning this weeks Lawttery of Attraction.

Mark from the USA was the winner while I was away on January 21st.

———————————————————–

As a family we had agreed that we would look into adopting a dog when we returned home from vacation.

Well The Universe must have thought we meant immediately after the vacation.

You see the first day we were down there Debbie had heard from our friend that there is this great adoption agency for stray dogs.  They have a fantastic system where they find these dogs.  Vaccinate them.  Then have all the proper paperwork and couriers to send these amazing animals all over North America.

Then the next day while I was doing some errands I ran into Heather who is the chairperson for   . We had a great chat and she related some of the amazing qualities about these dogs.

Well I knew the jig was up.  There was too much synchronicity going on.  I knew there would be an extra family member coming home on the plane with us.

The next day I was sick but the rest of the family went to the Foster Mom Barb`s house  to meet the newest Slocombe. The kids played with this puppy that had been found wandering only the day before.

Then my family went  down to the TCSPCA to meet Susan.  Susan runs the SPCA there along with a volunteer vet and foster families that deworm, vaccinate, parvo test, bath the puppy, do the paperwork, well you get the picture.  It was amazing and EASY experience.  Susan, Barb and crew made it super easy. Thanks for the trust.

After agreeing on which dog they wanted.  The paper work started and I got to meet the potcake at the airport as we were leaving.

Everybody meet Provo.

We named him Provo because that was the island that we went to in Turks and Caicos, Provodenciales.

We would like to thank Susan from the  and Foster  Mom Barb.

So now that you have met a potcake I bet you are still wondering why are they called potcakes.

Here’s a definition: “Potcake” is the term for the thick, leftover food that remains in the bottomof a pot of peas ‘n rice after several reheatings.  Traditionallythis potcake was fed to the oudoor indigigenous dogs that freely populated the Carribean.  Hence the dogs have come to be known as Potcakes.

I know my family will never forget this vacation.  And I hope Seth from the USA will never forget winning The Lawttery of Attraction.  Congratulations Seth.

P.S.  In the past when Debbie was talking about our new dog.  She would always say that she would want such a mixed breed that you would never be able to identify it.  Well The Universe listened.  We think Provo is a cross between a shephard, the fur and tail of a chow, a pot belly pig and a Tasmanian Devil.  So be careful what you wish for.

P.P.S. Don`t forget in order to attract your winnings like Seth did.  Then you must enter here

P.P.P.S.  Hey, if you want your own potcake but don`t plan on going to Turks and Caicos then contact Susan at  and she will get the ball rolling.

P.P.P.P.S.  By the way the water in Turks and Caicos is beautiful and we are grateful for our time on the island.

I believe The Lawttery of Attraction has chosen a new winner.  Ed from the USA is this weeks winner.  Yee ha!

And I know I have some catching up to do.  So here goes.

Annie from Australia was the winner February 21nd 2010.

Barbara from the USA was the winner February 14th 2010.

Donna from Great Britain was the winner  February 7th 2010.

John from the USA was a surprise winner. The Lawttery of Attraction chose John on February 1st 2010. I forgot to change the draw back to weekly from daily after The After Christmas Giveaway was over.I guess the Universe wanted another winner.

———————————————————————–

I wish to thank everyone for the amazing response we had during The After Christmas Giveaway.  It turned into an overwhelming success.

I especially wish to thank my Donation Champions during this period.  They are Vivan Garrett from Valley Stream New York, USA for donating $5.00. Steve Nash from West Yorkshire United Kingdom for donating $53.50. And the amazing Donna (DonnaontheBeach) from West Midlands for donating $5.00.

I also am grateful to the amazing support I received during the past month.  Thank you.

So now that my Olympic fever has lessened.  I would like to congratulate the organizers of VANOC and the Media Consortium for using The Law of Attraction in such a positive, upbeat and subtle way.

John Furlong the head of Vanocinspired us throughout the seventeen days with his remarkable use of words. John Vanoc stated at the opening ceremony:

The Olympic Flame has touched many millions and prompted spontaneous, peaceful celebration. Reminding us all that those values that unite and inspire the best in us we must never abandon. As the Olympic Cauldron is lit, the unique magic of the Olympic Games will be released upon us.

Magic so rare that it cannot be controlled by borders. The kind of magic that invades the human heart touching people of all cultures and beliefs. Magic that calls for the best that human beings have to offer. Magic that causes the athletes of the world to soar and the rest of us to dream.”

And his remarks at the closing ceremonies:

“I believe Canadians tonight are stronger, more united, more in love with our country and more connected to each other than ever before… These games have lifted us up.”

But it was his dream to unite the world in some small way that I find remarkable.  He wanted to ensure that all of us feel the connection that we all share the same values and that we are part of something bigger then just ourselves.

And what about the fantastic song I BELIEVE .

“I believe in the power that comes
From a world brought together as one
I believe together well find

I believe in the power of you and I “

I believe in The Lawttery of Attraction and I believe in Ed  from the USA for being chosen as this weeks winner.  Congratulations.
