Pushups, Situps and The Ripple Effect
44 days ago I was inspired to do something I hadn’t done in a while.
You see, a little over 18 months ago I gave up a job that paid fairly well, kept me in shape but kept me away from my family.
I was a partner in landscape construction firm.
Slugging away and hanging with the boys was fun but it wasn’t my passion. And when I found another direction to take my life 18 months ago I went for it.
I became a internet marketer for local businesses. Helping them dominate their online local niche.
But with the freedom to set my own hours came the downfall of sitting in front of a computer all day.
And when the few extra pounds became 20 extra pounds. And the well toned body turned to flab something had to give.
Well I am blessed to be surrounded by high energy positive minded people who understand the importance of a healthy mind and body.
It was actually one of my mentors who decided he had enough of the way he looked and felt and was going to do something about it.
So he decided to do 100 day challenge where he was going to do 100 pushups and 100 situps every day.
It didn’t matter how long it would take to accomplish this feat…just that it would get done.
Well you know I have told you that the bald guy is a little slow. It took me 128 days before I decided to join the challenge.
Yes my mentor completed the first 100 days and then decided he was going to do it again. Encouraging others to join with him in his challenge.
So I finally did.
And those first few days were killer.
Soreness in all the muscles that a computer geek usually never feels.
But like anything else the more you do it the easier it becomes and now I am up to doing 45 pushups and situps at a time. Not bad for a 43 year old bald guy.
Here’s the best part. My wife has joined the challenge and is on day 30. At the start she could barely do 100 women pushups and tonight she told me of the 100 push ups she completed today 60 were the real pushups.
That is awesome. A little bit every day and you begin to see real difference.
My kids are doing it, my brother and his girlfriend and even my 80 year old father has started doing the challenge.
Wow!!!
You just never know who you will inspire by doing a little action.
It blows my mind! It is the ultimate Ripple Effect. Like the ever expanding ripples across water when an object is dropped into it, an effect from an initial state can be followed outwards incrementally.
And because my wife and I are occasionally posting our achievements and locations where we are accomplishing our daily challenge. Other people are now getting involved.
This past weekend while I was watching my sons hockey game a father on the opposing team came up to me and told me how sore he was. He told me after reading some of my posts on Facebook that he was going to join the challenge. He completed day 3 the day he talked with me.
Then just tonight a co-worker of my wife said her and her kids had started the challenge.
I mean one guy because he didn’t like the way he looked or felt – Took Action!
Asked others to join.
And now people in a different country not associated with him personally or professionally are taking action.
Let’s take this global. Who wants to join. Leave a comment below and tell me you are committed to doing whatever it takes to complete 100 pushups and 100 situps every day for 100 days.
Join me on Facebook and share your story.
One small step can change the lives of many. Thanks Pablo. You Rock!
